RFID Tunnel, also known as a radio frequency identification channel, is a device based on RFID technology mainly used for rapid and batch identification and data collection of items equipped with RFID tags.
Basic Components:
It typically consists of RFID readers, antennas, communication modules, and a tunnel-shaped enclosure. Taking Turck’s UHF RFID tunnel device as an example, its integrated solution includes one UHF reader, four powerful passive antennas, matching coaxial cables, and an enclosed tunnel housing, facilitating quick installation. The identification area formed by the readers and antennas can comprehensively cover items on the conveyor belt, effectively collecting tag information. The communication module enables data transmission between the identification module and other devices or systems, sending the collected data to a designated management platform.

Working Principle:
RFID Tunnel uses electromagnetic energy to activate items with RFID tags. As items pass through the tunnel, the reader inside sends RF interrogation signals to activate the tags. The tags respond by sending the information stored in their chip memory back to the reader, which then transmits this information to the backend system for processing and analysis.
Airport Baggage Handling:
At airports, RFID Tunnel is used for baggage tag data collection before security checks, during lane separation, and at sorting machine inputs. It accurately tracks baggage locations, ensures precise sorting and transportation, improves baggage handling efficiency and accuracy, and reduces the occurrence of lost or misrouted luggage.

In-Plant Logistics and Warehouse Management:
In production and warehouse logistics, it is an ideal choice for entry/exit inspections and batch detection. It can quickly scan goods on conveyor belts to monitor their movement in real time, achieve precise asset tracking, help enterprises optimize inventory management, improve logistics efficiency, and reduce operational costs.

Tunnel Personnel Positioning and Management:
In complex environments such as mines, subways, and tunnel construction, RFID Tunnel combined with personnel positioning systems can be installed at tunnel entrances, exits, or key areas to monitor personnel entry and exit, identify identities, and count numbers, ensuring personnel safety and efficient management. It can also be used to track equipment and tools within tunnels, helping workers quickly locate needed items and improve work efficiency.
