To be honest, UHF RFID readers are often misunderstood at the beginning of a project.
I’ve seen it more than once—someone says, “just give me the longest reading range model,” or “we need the cheapest industrial reader that still works.”
And later… things get messy.
Because the issue is usually not on the spec sheet.
Sometimes, a better reader actually makes the system worse.
If we strip away the technical wording, it’s pretty simple:
It turns “tag presence” into usable system data.
That’s it.
But in real deployments, it sits in the middle of everything:

A reader that works 100% consistently in a slightly “imperfect environment” is far more valuable than one with impressive specs that behaves unpredictably.

More antenna ports don’t always mean better performance.
I’ve seen 8-port systems where only 2 ports were actually used after deployment.
