Step 4: The reader decodes the response. The reader’s receiver captures the faint reflected signal, amplifies it, and decodes the digital data . This is typically a unique identifier like an Electronic Product Code (EPC) or other stored information.
Step 5: Data is delivered. The reader sends the tag data to a host system via USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or other interfaces for further processing .
For active tags (those with batteries), the process is similar but the tag doesn’t need to harvest energy from the reader—it has its own power source .

Can a Phone Read RFID Tags?
